I've started this blog as a place that I could have to help journal my journey on this new life path. I also write here and here and figure that as passionate as I am about this way of life, many people are not and don't want to hear my big mouth blabber on all damn day about it. So I've carved out this little place to further follow my progress, my resources, my recipes.
If you live primal and have any other resources or stories for me, I'd love to hear them. I'm new on this journey and could use any and all help.
Living with PCOS and obesity most of my adult life, I lost 120 pounds through diet and exercise over seven years ago. Throw in a marriage, two kids in two years, and a cross-country move and I found myself 40-50 pounds away from where I want to be. No "diet" was working and I was always hungry, always tired, and no matter how much I worked out, the scale wouldn't move.
My doctor told me to consider going low-carb to help treat my PCOS and subsequent insulin-resistance and I started to look at the Atkins Diet, but felt like something wasn't right. I learned a lot from reading Dr. Atkin's New Diet for a New You, and from there stumbled onto the Primal Blueprint and MarksDailyApple.com. It was from here that everything clicked.
This way of eating and living is no longer a diet. I am no longer stuck counting calories, weighing food, stepping on the scale 11 times a day.
It's just how I eat. It's just who I am. There are some awesome changes happening already and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
I've had a lot of questions from friends about what I eat and how I make choices. What do I eat? How do I cook? What do I eat when we go out? How can I afford to buy all organic and "fancy foods"? (I actually posted an article about eating natural on a budget.)
I plan to post a daily meal calendar of what I eat (check the top tabs for Menu page) and the products I use, as well as the recipes for some things that most people wouldn't be used to. Maybe it will help you make the changes you've been wanting to make. I know it will help keep me focused on living my life the way my body intended.
For immediate resources, check some of the links I put up. This site is ever-evolving and there is much more to come!
Tell me about you and what you're interested in and what you'd like to learn about primal way of life. Do you eat primal? Have you tried it and failed? Why? What kinds of things would you like to have me discuss or feature?
