Photo Journey

So, I finally broke that plateau and this morning weighed in at 201 - a weight I haven't seen since my honeymoon.

From around 300 pounds at 21 years old:

I started my weight loss journey on my own. I hired a trainer and went to a nutritionist (who now I realize was an idiot but whatever) Shortly after, around 240 or so, I met Mike.

Over the next couple of years, the weight came off. I worked out almost every day, sometimes twice. I ate very little and low fat. I followed Weight Watchers off and on. (Again, if I only I could go back and punch myself in the mommy buttons.)

I had hit my lowest adult weight at 184 the week before my wedding:

I gained a few pounds between the rehearsal dinner (in the pic above), bachelorette party, etc. and on the morning of my wedding I weight in at 189. I remember the number as clear as day.

Then a few days after our wedding, we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon:

where we ate and drank all we wanted for 10 glorious days. I came back at 203. Also? Pregnant.

I had Charlotte and came home around 265:

It took a little over a year but I lost all of that weight and got back down to 203 exactly to be in a friend's wedding:

And that weekend? Got pregnant again:

And came home with this guy at 277.

Sawyer turned 2 in July and even though it's taken two years, I am now at 201.

This is a weight I haven't seen in more than five years. And I've gotten here in a way so different than before: no cardio for hours at the gym, no starvation. I am leaner at this 201 than I ever have been before. I run and lift weights heavier than my own body. I eat a lot of real, healthy food.

And I feel like a new person. I feel like I've got a second chance at being a better version of myself.

And by the gods, I WILL see 199 by my 30th birthday in a couple of weeks.

30 is not the new 20. It is the new me. Bring it.

  1. You look FANTASTIC. Isn't funny how we can remember our exact weight from YEARS ago. The numbers really do stick with us. Love your blog. It gives me great ideas and motivation as I start this journey. :)

  2. You are the skinniest 200-pound person I have ever seen. Seriously. I'm pretty sure that means you could kick my ass all over the place.

Have I mentioned that you look amazing? Because you do and I'm not just saying that so I stay on your good side. ;-)

  6. You're such a damn inspiration! You look fantastic and thanks for putting a face/shape to 200 lbs. So many people hear that number and gasp thinking it's some horribly overweight person but for some bodies it's lean and strong. Way to go!

  7. Very inspiring. And so accurate how we have our weight at any given time in our lives seared into our brains.

  8. Wow!!! You have been working hard and it is PAYIN' OFF! Look how lean and foxy you are. :)

I have a sneaking suspicion you'll be in the 100s before your deadline. :-D

When you get back to 185 this time, you'll look 140!

  10. I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are amazing. I hope you're equally proud of all the people you've inspired (like me) to focus on the healthy way to lose weight instead of the quick way.

  11. Congratulations on your success! It sounds like this time it's definitely a life style change, not a diet. :)

  13. Amazing! In looks and attitude.

My cousin was just diagnosed with PCOS and I've pointed her in the direction of your blog and touted the benefits of going primal (even though I can't seem to make myself do it).

  14. Wow. That is amazing. I really think you are the skinniest 201 pound person. If I looked like that at 200 I wouldn't give a crap what the scale said. Awesome and inspiring!

  17. This is AWESOME! You've always been beautiful--even at your heaviest, that was clear. Now? You look amazing. Amazing doesn't even seem accurate. You are the smallest 200 pound person I've ever seen.

SO SO SO proud of you!

  18. Bring it? It's brought baby. By you. An inspiration - as always. And one who knows how to live. Well. And deliciously.

  19. AMAZING! You should be very proud of all your hard work.

And I agree - you are the skinniest 200-lb person I've ever seen.

  20. Uh, if your scale is right, then all that running and weight lifting has turned you into solid steel... TONED, SUPER FIT solid steel. Because you look AH.MAY.ZING. Emphasis on the ZING.

Looking at the most recent pic, I'd have guessed you weigh less than me (I'm stuck at 157, trying to get back to pre-baby-#2 weight of 150). I'm battling PCOS too (albeit without medication) and you are a constant inspiration to continue working hard to be HEALTHY. Keep it up, because I want to cheer with you when you hit the 100's!! :)

  21. My god, you look fantastic. And not the kind where I really mean "fantastic compared to before". Unqualified fantastic.

  22. AWESOMENESS!!! Isn't the human body amazing? It's crazy how much it can be manipulated with food and exercise (or lack thereof). You're doing a great job and are so damn HEALTHY.

  23. Inspiring photos!

Woman, ditch the long T-shirt, put on a sports bra, and show off that body of yours! (Oh, that came out wrong! I'm not asking for our benefit!)

Wait, let me redeem myself: Your babies are *gorgeous*!

  24. Hi AndreAnna,
I stumbled on your blog by accident (was googling bacon-crab mushrooms and found your yummy-sounding recipe!) and when I went to your main page, read about what a great job you've done to get down to 201... congrats! I am echoing the others, but.... you really are the skinniest-looking 201 lbs person I've ever seen! You look so healthy and you really are an inspiration to others! Keep it up! :)

  26. Just found your blog from Food Renegade. Your journey is inspiring, and you look fantastic. I am also trying to lose weight, and I like your philosophy of eating.... I'll have to try some of your recipes!

  28. I love this post! So inspirational. I recently fit back into jeans that I couldn't wear (pre-CrossFit, pre-Paleo/Primal) when I was a good bit heavier in terms of pounds. It's interesting how our bodies can be higher weights but soooo much more fit.
